Puppy Introduction Sessions

A completely tailored service at your puppy’s pace.

Session 1: An in-person consultation to calmly introduce your pup to the sights, sounds and smells of Top Collar. During this visit I’ll recommend a grooming schedule for your pup and provide some advice about coat maintenance.

Session 2: As above, plus a steady introduction to tools like scissors and clipper vibrations (not blades). If your pup is ready, I’ll give them a gentle bath and tidy up their face, feet and sanitary area.

Session 3: A full groom.

  • "Cathy must have a very calm and loving way with animals as Tallulah was so relaxed with her, sometimes she can be quite nervous with groomers."

“I took my 15 year old labradoodle to Cathy last week. The set up she has in her garden is fantastic and very pink!

She was in real need of a bath and cut as she is getting on and is incontinent. Cathy took such a lot of time and care with her, she looked like a new dog when I collected her. She looked amazing.

I would highly recommend Cathy as a dog groomer and I will definitely be returning.”

 FAQs

  • I open from 10am-5pm every Tuesday and Thursday, but I can offer alternative weekday appointments on request.

  • I’m based in Findon, just outside of Worthing.

After you’ve booked your first appointment, you’ll receive a welcome email with the exact address and what to expect on your first visit.

  • I work at a pace that suits your dog, which depends on their coat type and condition as well as their behaviour.

We’ll have a chat about your dog before their appointment, and I’ll be able to give you an indication of time then.

But as an estimate, you can expect these timings for a full groom:

    • 1.5 hours for a small dog

    • 2 hours for a medium dog

    • 2.5 hours for a large dog

    • 3 hours (or more) for a long-haired and large dog

  • To keep everyone safe, you are unable to stay during your dog’s appointment. However, when you first join Top Collar we can arrange an in-person visit before your first appointment so you and your dog can get familiar with the space.

  • It’s a good idea to bring in your puppy for introduction sessions as soon as they’re fully vaccinated and able to go on walks (usually at 12-16 weeks old).

The 6-week puppy introduction package is designed to ensure they’re comfortable with the grooming process before their first full groom. It includes 2 introductory sessions and a full groom on the third visit. Depending on how comfortable your pup is, they’ll also be given a bath and trim on their second visit.

Once they’ve been gently introduced to the space over the course of 6 weeks, you can drop them off for regular full grooms.

  • Matting and severe matting will be charged extra at £15 per 15 minutes of removal time.

It’s important to note that if your dog is matted, I will shave them completely for their health and wellbeing.
